Drama

Even though I had been in touch with a certain someone at Ironman Canada, via email, for a couple weeks leading up to sign up, pertinent information had been with held. It wasn't until the day before the sign up, that I got an email informing me that Ironman Canada only takes credit. No cash, no debit, no checks, no goats, just credit. For most this is a shrug your shoulders bit of information and you move on. For me, a Permanent Resident here in Canada, it's more complicated than that, as I wasn't allowed to have a credit card until just recently. (the application's been out and I've had to send off verification of my residence so the problem should be rectified soon.)

So I didn't get to set my alarm for 4am and there was no stumbling down to the sign up line and waiting the 9 hours, or so, to drop my name into the big bucket of future Ironmen or Ironpeople. Instead there was sleeping in. Strangly I had a dream about it all, obviously it was on my mind, which is strange for me because I dream about very few 'real world' things (they mostly involve flying and, the other night, zombies).

Then, after going about my daily duties, I decided to check online and see what was happening with Ironman.ca and see if, maybe, they had opened any slots online (a rare occurance but one that does happen, every so often). Low and behold...there were spots. I quickly sent off an email to my hubby, who was at work, two hours away, and, having a slow day in the office, he happened to be online. Before I knew it he had bought my entry into Ironman 2010 and I recieved a confirmation email, stating that I had been registered.

I had hoped to experience the same thrill, or lack of thrill, everyone else has, by sitting in line, for hours, waiting to sign up for themselves, in person. Instead I was sitting at home, slacking off on the net, when I recieved an email, informing me that I had been signed up. We all have different routes, I guess, and, for this, mine has already driven off track. And from that little bit of information, I'm guessing, that the next twelve months will be unique, as well.

Update

For my one reader, out there - you know who you are, I thought I should update my little blog.

I tweaked my back, pretty bad, the other day, whilst putting on socks. In my defence they were the big fluffy type, so a bit heavier than most. So running's been off the table for a while. It comes back on today, however, so things are still moving forward.

I'm putting money aside to purchase all the things I'll need to buy, wet suit, bicycle and, august 31st, the entry fee.

It trips me out, as much as you can BE tripped out without the appropriate medication, that I'm planning this far out for something that I'll be cursing out later :)
